The Data Exchange is an independent podcast focused on data, machine learning and AI. The goal is to be more than just a podcast but to create a community to help people make better decisions. A key part of this is getting listeners involved. We have ideas on how this community will grow but as a first step please subscribe
- To our newsletter where we share highlights from recent episodes, trends in AI / machine learning / data engineering, and a collection of recommendations.
The host and organizer is Ben Lorica, Program Chair of the Spark+AI Summit and Co-Chair of the Ray Summit. Ben is the former Chief Data Scientist at O’Reilly Media, and the former Program Chair of: the Strata Data Conference, the O’Reilly Artificial Intelligence Conference, and TensorFlow World. Ben is also an advisor to a few exciting startups and organizations: Databricks, Anyscale, Anodot, Alluxio, Matroid, Pathmind, Determined AI, Faculty (formerly ASI Data Science), Graphistry, Yakit, and The Center for Data Intensive Science + Open Commons Consortium (University of Chicago).
Mikio Braun spent nearly a decade in machine learning research before working as an engineering lead and principal data scientist in industry, helping teams build recommendation and search products. More recently he has worked on the technologies, culture, and organizational setup that best enable data science teams across a company to deliver machine learning based solutions and products. He regularly speaks at conferences across Europe and the US.
Ben previously founded and hosted a biweekly podcast called the O’Reilly Data Show. It was a series of informal conversations with thought leaders, researchers, practitioners, and writers on a wide range of topics in technology, science, and of course big data, data science, artificial intelligence, and related applications. The feedback was largely positive and it made a few “top technology podcasts” lists. Ben hosted 136 episodes over a five year stretch and you can find a list of the episodes he hosted here.
